For humans, this generally covers anyone age 65 and older. Said strength usually allows them to win fights, or at least to last longer; stronger people are also normally able to withstand harsh conditions more easily than the rest, and even do things as simple as carrying heavy weights around.

This tag also applies when a race is stronger than others think the Sayajin , as long as said weaker races are also a part of the cast. See also yangire, a sibling trait to the yandere. This show lacks plot, but it has a lot of simple heart that's conveyed through decent direction and what I'd consider a pretty much all-star voice cast. A show with both Arai Satome and Kugimiya Rie is a winner in its own right. Heck, Arai Satome's narration alone had me hooked.

But to be fair, though the character portraitures were nice, the characters were pretty shallow. And with the straightforward simplistic plot, it was hard to get sucked in. Enjoying the show mostly because of direction and acting while not really considering the rest of the production elements doesn't speak well for the show.

I really enjoyed it, but even though the ending was satisfactory, I wish it had a second season to flesh things out more. An adorable show with memorable characters that doesn't demand too much of your time. Highly recommended. Better than I thought, must watch. Great story, and a unique background makes it an excellent watch. This is a bit comparable to Kage kara Mamoru.

Animation is great. Character development was also good. Just story wise a lot is missing. Like fights left open and unfinished. Love still unrequited, and lots of add on characters Sometimes too many. It will catch your attention at first but will leave you asking for more This series should have a second season. The creators owe it to the fans who watched this series to the end Dont expect too much from this.

Mukashi, mukashi I mean These series were very nice, light and nicely done. Ofc the narration is horrible at times but apart from that I enjoyed this to the point of regretting it's only 12 eps long. As for me it had a few surprising moments like a confession in the very 1st ep. This is somewhat unusual series thanks to quite a few things and it has just the right balance of comedy, seriousness and ecchi.

Only the romance part could've been deeper. As for the ending I both liked it and felt it was a let down. I liked it cos it suggests a continuation but was somewhat unsatisfying Anyway I really recommend it to anyone! Not exactly a great show but also not too bad Watch it if you got a lot of time and you don't know what to do. Reviews add review. Rating: 6. Long, long ago In this case, the "big bad wolf" is our main heroine who acts tough tsun but really hides a needy, cute inner personality.

Ookami is being "hunted" by am infatuated boy who used to be a hunter in the mountains. Add in a bunch of atypical supporting characters forming the Otogi Bank and you have a character-based show with some humor, a bit of drama, a bit of action, and a bit of tsundere cuteness.

Though the plotline isn't particularly strong, and some characters rub off as just plain weird, the character development of the primary characters is decent enough to carry you through the series. This isn't meant to be a thinking series, nor is it a thriller or romance.

It's a light, not-so-ordinary slice of life with good character interactions. If you're looking for something more substantial, and more unpredictable, look elsewhere. For a light break after something serious, this fits the bill. Animation: The animation is up to expectations at the time of release.

Colors are a bit on the saturated side and backgrounds are fairly plain. Character designs are mixed, with emphasis on the primary and supporting characters. Ookami in lace, yeah that was a sight. There are some fight sequences with adequate choreography but nothing outstanding. The focus of the series is not ecchi though there are some occasions where it is noticeable, especially the highly-suggestive behavior of Otohime around Tarou.

They even go as far as to describe the extracting of "essence". For a light watch, though, it's good enough. Sound: The OP is decent and sets the pace for the series as a fun, and somewhat light series. The ED uses instruments that sound like they're lifted from a 80's era video game, but the tune isn't anything worth remembering.

The BGM is very light, enough so that it doesn't support enough at times. VAs do a good job, special props to Shizuka Itou esp in episode 7 , the transition from tsun to dere is really amazing. Likewise Ryoushi's voice-transition from total wimp to "manly mode" is also quite good. All the voices seem to fit their intended roles quite well though having Satomi Arai her voice is identical to Kuroko from Railgun as narrator is a bit much she tends to exaggerate the severity of events.

Story: Our story takes place in a fairly-tale like isolated school community where a club called the Otoki Bank runs a special service for students. Ookami serves as the "muscle" behind the club and is eventually aided by Ryoushi, who would do anything to be closer to her. You have a typical scenario of a tsundere girl being chased by a semi-wimpy dude. Along the way you learn about other supporting characters and everyone's past except Ryoushi's in an episodic fashion before eventually moving on to finally confronting Ookami's past.

It's an overly-used formula which makes it extremely predictable, all the way through the second-to-last episode. The last episode is an extended conclusion that introduces some nice elements not seen earlier in the show. Overall, it's a fairly average plot line sprinkled with a few good moments and equal numbers of unexplained plot holes.

Character: You have quite a varied cast ranging from a cross-dressing club president to a girl dressed like a witch, though she seems to make mostly technological inventions. While exploring some characters' histories was decent, the focus for me was really on Ryoushi's attempts to win Ookami's heart. There's a bit of irony here as Ryoushi is normally a pathetic wimp who can't stand people looking at him, but at important times he can suddenly act manly, and profess his love for Ookami.

Ookami on the other hand is physically strong but unable to express her true feelings at all, afraid to expose her fragile true inner nature. It's a delicate balance that is played nicely in the series, one if it's primary redeeming qualities. Unfortunately, you don't get anything really serious as this is meant as a light watch rather than a drama.

Value: Ookami is a decent watch, if anything your enjoyment will probably increase as the series progresses so don't just judge based on the first episode. Approval: Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi Abstract: A show about Fairy Tale parodies, loan sharks that deal in favors, and tsundere romance thrown in to boot?

It sounds too good to be true! Sadly, it is. Despite the great promise of this show, Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi ends up most consisting of the main characters helping others fall in love while unable to advance anywhere themselves. Plus, there is this whole arc with a bunch of delinquents that builds up to a dramatic finish only to be randomly cut short and ignored.

While there is strong voice acting and some unforgettable characters, the lack of development and disappointing plot turns a prince of a great concept in to a frog of a show See, two can play the fairy tale reference game. First, there is the idea of a favor bank, which is really quite clever and interesting subject. Secondly, we have the whole fairy-tale parody thread, which can be excellent if done right see Shrek, the first movie.

And thirdly, we have the romance between a tsundere and milquetoast. While that's been done repeatedly these last few years, it is still a solid starting point for a story. Ookami-san has these great, great ideas going for it, and just as you thing this is going to be one of the legendary shows of , it craps the bed. Let me put it this way: the premise is the foundation, and the plot is house built upon it. If the premise is weak, it is like a foundation made of sand.

Not matter how strong the house is built, when the rains come down, the streams rise, and the winds blow and beat against that house, and it will fall. But even if the plot is built on a strong premise, like in Ookami-san, if the resulting plot is weak, slipshod, and erratic, then this house will too fall in the storm. After starting with these great ideas, this show proceeds to waste 12 episodes without hardly expounding on any of them. The favor bank is the most developed of these premises, but it woefully under utilized.

We see the characters often doing these favors, but we rarely see anyone pay them back. It is not like K-On, where the characters sit around doing nothing; these characters do go and do things, but it mostly mundane, like rigging a popularity contest or playing matchmaker. In fact, in the 12 episodes, there are 4 episodes that revolve around the bank setting people up with a date.

On the second premise, apart from the first episode, the whole fairy-tale parody angle is dropped right off the table. While there are plenty of fairy-tale puns and references Shirayuki Himeno and the seven siblings, anybody? So instead of the clever jokes I was expecting, it was more like getting hammered over the head with far too heavy symbolism.

If I wanted over the top, pointless symbolism, I would go read sodding F. Scott Fitzgerald. And finally, we get to the romance angle. Now, even if Ookami-san failed on the first two premises, surely they can't screw the romance up, right? By now, the story should write itself, right?

Sorry to say, but Ookami-san finds away to ruin this too. The love interests don't even kiss once. Despite all the forces that should have brought them together, the characters are at the same point at the end as the beginning. The introduction of a love rival was able to force some growth, but this love interest was introduced in the final episode!

There was no time left by then to really do anything with her by then. And then there was the Hitsujikai arc, which while showing great drama, had one of the weirdest endings I've ever seen. In the penultimate episode, we have the final boss fight, only to have it halted just as it started to get good. The Otogi Bank made some hollow threats and left with the enemy still standing. What, are they trying to save the main villain for a sequel or something? Or did they just get the donkey up the minaret plotwise?

Now, this does not mean there is nothing good in Ookami-san. There are number of good side stories, and as mentioned, the arc with Hitsujikai is quite good drama. It is a pity that this drama is never built upon.

Ookami-san suffers from the worst sit-com malady: at the end of each episode, everything is reset as it was at the beginning. You can't get good growth when the characters have episodal amnesia Oh, and Ookami gets real amnesia in one episode. Now that is lazy writing. Grade: C- Art: 6 The artwork for Ookami-san is not it's strong point. It definitely has a Toradora feel to it, but the artwork is not as crisp as that other tsundere romance. The fight scenes are adequate, although a lot of shortcuts are taken with the animation.

The character designs have sharp and angular faces, a art style I never particularly liked. The backgrounds are solid, although few in number and often reused, since the characters hangout in all the same places for most the show. One great bit is the school uniforms, or lack there of. I really can't explain how great it is see a school where nobody is where the same clothes as everyone else.

The pity is that they rarely change in clothes other that their non-uniform uniforms, but you can't have everything. Also, I must mention the beauty of Momo-chan-senpai and her wonderful millet dumplings. Best animation of the show, right there. Grade: B- Sound: 8 Strong work all around, this time. Itou Kanae shines as Akai Ringo, another solid performance for an up and coming lead actress I believe her first big role was the part of Hinamori Amu of Shugo Chara, which she absolutely nailed. Ringo gets some really good lines in this show, which allowed Ms.

Itou to show her talents. Itou Shizuka no relation plays the role of the title characters, and she does a competent job at it, although a would liked to hear more emotion from her. And Irino Miyu rounds out the lead cast with his take on Ryoushi. Another up and coming star, Mr. Irino does a rather nice job at switching between comical and serious at the drop of a hat, or more likely, an inquisitive glance.

The other characters have strong voices as well, including a fantastic job by one Kaji Yuuki as Nekomiya Saburou, or Puss in Boots, and his speech impediment. And we can not forget Arai Satomi and her perfect old lady voice as the Narrator. Arai really steals the show with her sarcastic remarks, and I am a sucker for shows with narrators that break the fourth wall.

The background score can be considered minimalistic, but adequate. The OP is a nice pop tune that fits in well with the series comedic parts, and the ED is a cover of a song from the seventies, which is is completely awesome. Every character, even the main leads, seem to consist entirely of one character trait, which is exaggerated almost to the point of self-parody.

Character development is no where to be found, and even the dramatic retelling of Ookami's past only tells us how Ookami got where she is now, and changes nothing to her current character. I mean, even a gag of a show like Kujibiki Unbalance Clarification: Kujibiki is not a gag show, rather the show itself is a gag at least tried to do some characters development.

And the main problem for this is an overcast of characters. In just reoccurring characters, we have Ookami, her seven companions, Ryoushi, Momo-chan-senpai, Shirayuki, the Narrator, Hitsujikai and his nine-tailed fox, the girl Kugimiya Rie voices, the three big pigs, Yuki the author, and Puss in Boots. That's 20 reoccurring characters in 12 episodes, plus there are a number of one-shot characters for the episodic stories. With such a character overload, you don't have time for character development, if you want to get all the characters in.

The only show I can think of that was able to do strong character development with this many characters was Ikkitousen I can't believe I'm saying something good about Ikkitousen! It is a pity, too, since there are a number of interesting characters. Perhaps the best were the pair of Ryuuguu Otohime and Urashima Tarou, whose yandere-style love was refreshing and quite amusing. They actually get substantial screen time, but it would have been nice to see more of them since it was clear the main leads weren't getting anywhere.

And the wonderful feuds Ms. Narrator would pick with the characters was one of the highlights of this series. The Narrator alone was worth the price of admission. Not that I paid anything to begin with. Grade: C- Value: 7 Watchability: Ookami-san was a remarkable quick watch.

I was done with the series so fast it surprised me. Part of that was waiting for the plot to coalesce into some kind of sensible structure, but I do have to acknowledge how smooth the show was, especially for it's episodic nature. Grade: A- Re-watchability : However, the lack of a plot really damages Ookami-san on the second time around. There are some fun and enjoyable episodes to go back too, but I can not see myself ever sitting down to rewatch the series in its entirety.

Grade: C Historical Value: Ookami-san has a fanbase, some popularity, and a license from Funimation, so maybe it will be going places. But I just have not seen it generate the kind of buzz other series have in the past. I would predict that Funi will make a return on their investment, but Ookami-san won't be any sort of a blockbuster.

Grade: B Enjoyment: 7 Well, there were definitely parts of this show I enjoyed. The clever and sarcastic Narrator, the overly smooth Nekomiya, and the bizarre relationship of Otohime and Urashima. But the first episode gave me overly advanced expectations that the rest of the series didn't live up to, and its failings tainted my opinions.

I was particularly disappointed at how the show backed down from Hitsujikai's tortures of Ookami. The idea of Ryoushi defending Ookami even after she was revealed as 'spoiled goods' would have made excellent drama, unfortunately, the writers then revealed that Hitsujikai was lying I was having flashbacks to Fushigi Yuugi , which dulled the drama.

And quite frankly, I am starting to get sick of these generic tsundere love stories. And this show did itself no favors by reducing even this stereotypical romance trope to boring and unfulfilled fluff. But despite my heavy criticisms, I still enjoyed my time watching this series. If a second season was made, I'd watch it in a heartbeat. It really is a pity that so much potential was wasted. I would just like to say that I have sworn an oath of fealty to Momo-chan-senpai and her amazing boobs.
